New feature called Stolen Device Protection adds an extra layer of security to your iPhone when you perform certain actions that involve your iCloud account or other sensitive information.

Biometric security

When you enable 'Stolen Device Protection', a passcode is no longer enough to fully unlock the device. For certain important actions, the iPhone will now request biometric registration in the form of facial recognition (Face ID) or a fingerprint (Touch ID).

Without this additional control, for example, it will not be possible to access stored passwords, deactivate 'Lost' mode or make online purchases via the browser. There will also be a delay for certain operations.
