COACHELLA: THE MOST HYPE FESTIVAL OF THE YEAR?

Among the major festivals taking place on the American continent, Coachella is undoubtedly the one that stands out the most from the others. And for good reason: it is located in the middle of the desert!

But beyond this particularity which pleases fans from all over the world, this major event is above all renowned for attracting big stars. We are rarely disappointed by the lineup!

Last year, for example, we were thrilled by The Weeknd's incredible concert. Even if he had a mixed experience, since he confided that he almost got burned on the festival stage. Yes, these are difficult conditions that await artists in the Indio desert…

We also loved seeing Angèle let off steam on the festival stage. A dream for the Belgian artist who has fans all over the world!

A PRESTIGE LINE-UP IN 2024

Coachella fans were eagerly awaiting the announcement of the headliners. And they were not disappointed, because the festival brought out the heavy artillery with the line-up for this 2024 edition!

Indeed, we will notably find the singer Lana Del Rey, the rapper Tyler, The Creator and the artist Doja Cat on the main stages. It promises a great show!

But beyond these three big names, there is also a host of other artists from all walks of life who make up this very beautiful line-up. We can assure you: there are truly spoiled for choice!

First of all, it’s hard not to mention Gwen Stefani’s group No Doubt which is making its comeback at the Californian festival. And for good reason: fans have been waiting for this for 9 years. Clearly, after Zendaya's return to Coachella, everyone wants to make a comeback in the Indio desert!

Techno fans can, for example, head to concerts by French producer Gesaffelstein and Charlotte de Witte. These two DJs are not new to this, since they had already set the festival alight during previous editions.

Alongside this, we also find the legendary group Blur and the Khruangbin collective. Two sure values for rock fans.

And finally, let’s not forget our French artists with DJ Snake and L’Impératrice. You will have understood, there really is something for everyone!

No New Hotels in Amsterdam - Point in Setlist to combat excessive tourism

 

The Dutch city of Amsterdam will no longer allow the construction of new hotel buildings as part of its fight against mass tourism, the local government announced on Wednesday.

“We want to make and keep the city livable for residents and visitors. This means: no over-tourism, no new hotels and no more than 20 million hotel nights by tourists per year," a statement said.

A new hotel in Amsterdam can only be built if another hotel closes, if the number of accommodation places does not increase, and if the new hotel will be better – for example, more sustainable.

However, the rule does not apply to new hotels that have already obtained a permit.

The city has actively tried to limit the number of tourists, which amount to several million a year, mainly by discouraging sex and drug tourism in the red light district.

Coachella 2024: Here is the entire program for the great American festival

Here is the line-up for the new edition of the famous Californian festival, Coachella. An edition that sells dreams!

The Coachella 2024 Valley Music and Arts Festival, one of the most famous festivals in the world, has revealed its finalized program. This year. Lana Del Rey, Tyler the Creator and Doja Cat are the main headliners. As usual, the Californian festival will take place over two consecutive weekends: in 2024, Coachella will take place from April 12 to 14 and from 19 to 21, 2024. Here is the complete program:

Who are the artists not to be missed at Coachella 2024?

Surprise: the group No Doubt will make its comeback for the 2024 edition of Coachella. We do not yet know the exact date of their visit, but it will be their first joint appearance since 2015.

For the two Fridays of the festival, here are some of the artists present on stage: Lana Del Rey, Peso Pluma, Lil Uzi Vert, Justice, Deftones, Peggy Gou, Young Miko, Bizarrap, Skepta, Ken Carson, Faye Webster, Tinashe, Brittany Howard, Chappel Roan, Chlöe, and Black Country, New Road, to name just a handful.

For both Saturdays we will notably enjoy shows by Tyler, the Creator, Blur, Ice Spice, Sublime, Bleachers, Grimes, Jon Batiste, Orbital, Kevin Abstract, the Blessed Madonna, Oneohtrix Point Never, Bar Italia, Erika de Casier, Militarie Gun and Mandy, Indiana.

And the two Sundays will conclude with Doja Cat, J Balvin, Khruangbin, Lil Yachty, Victoria Monét, Reneé Rapp, Bebe Rexha, Coi Leray, Taking Back Sunday, Boy Harsher, Jockstrap, Mdou Moctar and Feeble Little Horse.

As in previous years, we are not immune to last minute changes. In 2023 and 2022, the festival had recorded impromptu withdrawals from their headliners: Kanye West scheduled for the two Sundays of the 2022 edition and was replaced at short notice by the Weeknd and Swedish House Mafia. In 2023, after a lackluster performance during the first weekend – started more than an hour late with, when the time came, technical sound problems – Frank Ocean chose to cancel his second concert, justifying his decision by a leg injury. Which led the festival to call on Blink-182, Skrillex, Four Tet and Fred Again. Unforeseen events that add spice and madness to this festival, and which contribute to our impatience for the 2024 edition.

Only when the traditional Easter Stollen, consisting of currant bread with almond filling, is served does it truly become a typical Dutch Easter breakfast. Easter Stollen is completed with hard-boiled eggs, whose shells have been broken by the egg tik or which land on the breakfast table after being rummaged.

Due to the general rush of Easter-only tourists, restaurants, cafes and pubs opened during the Easter holidays. Amsterdam is best known for its Indonesian cuisine.

A completely different tradition, which can be quite strange for Dutch tourists, is visiting the furniture store. Although the annual trip to furniture stores only began in the 1980s, many Dutch people find themselves among upholstered suites, fitted kitchens and bedroom wardrobes around Easter.

The rush for new furniture during the Easter period is sometimes so strong that large furniture stores attract additional customers with their own discount campaigns and deep price reductions. However, due to the rush, the high volume of traffic in commercial areas of large cities can regularly cause traffic jams.

While in France, all public life will be at rest on Good Friday April 2, 2021, in the Netherlands, only authorities and public offices will be closed. Stores are open in most cities. In Amsterdam, for example, you can shop during the Easter weekend. On Good Friday there is even the famous Albert Cuyp market in the De Pijp district, as usual.

In general, opening hours are more liberal in the Netherlands than in France. Stores can also open on public holidays. A considerable number of stores will therefore be open, especially in large cities like Amsterdam. This also applies to the popular district of Jordaan.

Public transport at Easter in Amsterdam

The entire public transport network is in operation during the Easter holidays, although Amsterdam is a very easy city to explore on foot. Regular weekend and holiday hours apply. This may mean lower frequencies for the metro, tram, bus and train.
